يعتبر البخور جزءاً لا يتجزأ من العادات والتقاليد العربية، حيث يستخدم في العديد من المناسبات والأحداث الاجتماعية، ومن أبرز هذه المناسبات الدينية ، يأتي عيد الفطر وعيد الأضحى، حيث يقوم المسلمون بتعطير المنازل والملابس والأثاث بالبخور..

من العادات التي توارثناها عن أجدادنا هو بخور يوم الجمعة المميز حيث تقوم سيدة المنزل بتبخير البيت في هذا .اليوم المبارك. بالإضافة إلى أن الرجال يتطيبون به قبل التوجه إلى الصلاة والاجتماع بالأهل

ولا يقتصر استعمال البخور في الأعياد والأيام المميزة بل يعتبر من أهم تحضيرات الاعراس وخاصة تجهيز كل من العريسين عبر تبخير العروس وشعرها لتألق برائحة مذهلة، ثم يتم تبخير فستان العروس، وتبخير بشت المعرس ولبسه.
